Potty training-HELP!!!

I decided today that I was going to potty train Parker. I've been kicking around the idea for a while and today I'm taking the plunge. My goal is to have him potty trained by the time that baby Makenna comes along in September so I'll only be changing one child's diapers. I realize that he is a little young, but I want to give it a shot. The thing is, I don't even know where to start! I bought a little soft top for the toilet and a little stool for him to climb up on and that's as far as I've gotten. I thought about getting one of those toddler toilets but the thought of cleaning them just grosses me out. So, I'm asking for suggestions from all you more experienced mothers out there. Is there some kind of potty training bible of sorts? Call, email, whatever you can, but I would really like some advice!
In other news...

Here is picture of Andrew and Parker "blasting off". Parker is really into Little Ensteins (a tv show). He watches them every morning and always loves it when they "blast off" in their rocket. He can also name all of the characters on Mickey Mouse Club House (mickey, minnie, donald duck, etc...) I'm not totally sure how I feel about that. He usually only watches those two shows during the day but I still feel a little guilty. I was one of those moms who said their kids weren't going to watch TV and it's funny how fast that went out the window! A few minutes to empty the dishwasher or pay some bills is nice. I guess at least it's educational. (:

Feeding the ducks

Our little family went out the feed the ducks by BYU today and Parker had a ball! He just loves animals and bugs. He has a little rubber snake that he calls "snakey" and whenever he gets a hold of it, he takes it everywhere! In fact, when he first got it, he ate with it, bathed with it, and even took to it bed with him for a few days! Anyway, we had a great time, so I thought I'd share some pictures. (If you click on the picture they get bigger).

GO JAZZ!!!

So, for all of you out there that aren't basketball fans, the Jazz beat out Golden State last night to go the the NBA semi-finals! It was a great game! Andrew and I are big Jazz fans so we have been loving this season! Parker even got to stay up the latest he ever has to watch the game with us. I think he went to bed at about 11:30 or so (I know, bad mommy!) So, go Jazz go!

On another note. I'm pretty sure that Parker is a boy wonder! (: Let me explain: This morning he pulled a bath towel off the rack for no reason. Frustrated, I said to him, "please don't do that." After looking at my face, he ran over, hugged me and said all on his own, "I sorry." And it was heartfelt! What a sweet little boy! I'm pretty sure he can now get away with anything as long I get an adorable, "I sorry".

Then, later today, Parker and I were taking a little walk around the block before bedtime when he spotted a spray painted circle on the grass in one of our neighbors yards. He looked at it for a moment and then said to me, "circle". Now we have shape books that we read on occasion, but I didn't even know he could say circle let alone pick one out! Makes me wonder what else is stored in that brain of his. It sounds so cliche but kids really are just little sponges! Anyway, enough bragging from me. Here are some cute pictures that I took the other day of my grandparents and my dad with Parker.

My first blog!

So, I've decided to start a blog because I always have so much fun reading the blogs from my friends and family. My guess is that this will mostly contain the daily funny, amazing, endearing things that Parker does as I watch him grow up (way too fast, might I add). I hope that this will be fun way for all of my loved ones to keep up on the events of our little family. So, enjoy!

I hope I did this right. I thought I would post one of my favorite pictures of my mom with Parker seeing as Mother's Day was yesterday and I had the most wonderful mom anyone could ask for. I miss her everyday, but I feel so blessed to have been showered with love from her for 25 yrs and I know she still loves and watches over me just as she did in this life.
